Actually, a disclaimer. I made two minor goofs: I wired the input jack backward so it was actually shorting itself out, and I forgot to put the ICs on the board! With those two things corrected, I connected a battery and it came to life!
It sounds exactly like my vintage Small Stone. It might actually sound better - the dark 'color' setting seems to be a lot more useful than on my original.
I was careful during assembly and it paid off. I didn't even want to think about having to troubleshoot this board.
Next up: figuring out a layout and trying some mods. It does have the famous (dreaded?) volume drop. It's not too bad, but it is there.
