This blog is about stuff I do. Mostly in my 'real life' time, which is to say the time when I am actually living and not working for The Man. (To be honest, my boss is a woman, but you know what I mean).
I have a wide variety of interests, and they are reflected here. Use the helpful navigation found on each page to find musings and posts about different junk. Hopefully you'll find something of interest.
For example, you might read about instruments I build, repair or otherwise mess around with. What you see on the left is the Surfcaster. I made it. You can read about it, and other guitars I've worked on. More are in the works.
Here's something else I made - it's a hi-fi amplifier based on a type 42 vacuum tube.
I like tubes and I mess with amplifiers and other stuff that has tubes in them.
I'm in the middle of (another) guitar amp now, and I have a whole slew of old radios waiting to be restored.
But it's not all work work work at the workbench. I like to travel, and hopefully document my travels.
This is a beach in Maui.
I live in a house that was built in 1949, and so home renovation is one of my hobbies as well. I get to play contractor boy.
This is me laying tile on a renovation project. One sunroom down, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a basement renovation to go.
Lately I've been building guitar effects boxes. This one is a Dallas Rangemaster clone. I had to try a crazy swirl paint job on it.
So that's it. Browse around if you wish!
