Red Pepper Germanium Fuzz - Better Picture

Another, hopefully better, picture of the newly completed Red Pepper fuzz.

If you haven't read the whole story (or don't want to - and who can blame you?), it's a germanium transistor fuzz based on the legendary Fuzz Face.

There are so many clones and circuit mods out there, so I just cobbled up what I thought might be the best combination.

For controls, I have:
  • Drive - input volume
  • Volume - overall gain as on a Fuzz Face
  • Heat - amount of distortion/fuzz
  • Bite - contour/drive on first transistor
  • Thin/Fat switch - thick fat tone as original Fuzz Face, or smaller capacitor for more cutting tone
  • Goofy clear knob with red LED to indicate effect status.
I knew early on it was going to be called the Red Pepper, and  I wanted a picture of cayenne peppers for the decal.  I've grown them in the past, but I didn't have any good pictures of them.  So, to the interwebs!

Found a great picture on Ben Frank's "I Ate That!" food blog.  He was gracious enough to let me use it as a basis for the decal.  I manipulated his photo into what you see here.  Check out his blog - great recipes!

So now the Crawfish Instruments Art Series Effects Pedals consists of the White Pepper and Red Pepper fuzzes.  The Black Pepper will be coming soon too.
