Padauk, Granadillo, Cocobolo, and Indian Rosewood Bridge Blanks Have Arrived

Hmmm, what's this?  I got a package in the mail!  It's from Cahl-ee-for-nee-uh!

But it may not be for me because it is from Luthiers Mercantile International and is for "Instrument Makers."

Is that me?

It's my bridge blanks from LMI!

Because I didn't know what kind of wood I wanted for the new Gretsch bridge, I ordered a bunch of different species.

From the top, we have padauk, granadillo, Indian rosewood, and cocobolo.

That cocobolo is really gorgeous.  But it might be overkill for the little ukulele.  Right now I'm leaning toward the granadillo.  It's the lightest of all and has a higher pitched, ringing tap tone.  Maybe it's more appropriate for an ukulele?

Also in the package is this flyer for the Guild of American luthiers.  There were also several of these in my last box from Stew-Mac.  They must think I'm an instrument maker!  Little do they know I'm a hack.
